Eddie Murphy To Host The Oscars
Eddie Murphy has been tapped to host next year’s Oscars and I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief that we won’t be subject to the likes of James Franco again. Anne Hathaway I could live with, but not Franco. His humdrum performance, or I guess I should say lack thereof, was pitiful. Maybe it would have been better if Hathaway hosted by herself. So much for producers trying to attract the younger generation. But now that we have confirmation of Murphy as host of the 84th annual Academy Awards, it’s the answers to the producers prayers, yes? Back to what has worked well in the past, comedy. We’ve seen what Billy Crystal, Chris Rock, Steve Martin and Jon Stewart have done during their hosting duties, and I will venture to say that we’ll be adding Murphy to that long list of comedians who have made us laugh and kept us entertained during the show as well. Co-producers of the star studded event, Brett Ratner and Don Mischer, are thrilled that Murphy has agreed to host.
