Welcome to 2012, the year that will either bring us <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon" target="_blank">the end of civilization</a> as we know it or perhaps flying cars (finally!) Of course, between those two events, there's also going to be a presidential election, the London Olympics and that last "Twilight" movie (finally x 100!), not to mention a whole lot of activity within the lives of your favorite stars, too: Babies, weddings, honorary doctorates in nanotechnology; this is the year it'll all happen. <div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:722495.id:1672369" width="240" height="211"></div> Which is why, with the new year upon us, I've decided to get my <a href="http://www.amazingkreskin.com/" target="_blank">Kreskin</a> on with these predictions for 2012. Don't ask me to gaze deep into my crystal ball and try to foresee who'll win the White House or the World Series, because, seriously, if I knew that, don't you think I'd be wagering right now? Instead, I'm tackling the important topics. Here's my 2012 forecast for the Beyoncés and Britneys of the world ... partly cloudy, with a zero-percent chance of accuracy. » <a href="/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> and <a href="/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> will welcome a daughter, who, upon her, uh, release, will also release her debut single, "Run the World (Me)." » <a href="/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a> will win every single Grammy, including a stunning upset of Eres Un Farsante in the Best Regional Mexican Or Tejano Album category. » <a href="/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and Jason Trawick will tie the knot in an elaborate, multi-denominational ceremony held — eh, I don't even care enough to finish this one. » <a href="/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a>, having finally run out of singles to release off Teenage Dream, will spend the entirety of 2012 shooting videos for objects around her house. Her hits will include "Toaster," "KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer" and "This Towel Set Someone Gave Russell and I for Our Wedding That We Keep in the Guest Bathroom." » <a href="/music/artist/dr_dre/artist.jhtml">Dr. Dre</a> will indefinitely scrap Detox and instead drop a more age-appropriate album called The Chronic Arthritis. » <a href="/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> will wear a crazy hat or something. » <a href="/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> will release six albums in 2012, each more raunchy than the last. Titles include Speculum, [Censored] [Censored] On My [Censored], and Songs About F---ing, which, oddly, will be a note-for-note remake of Big Black's Songs About F---ing. » Dave Grohl is sure to do something awesome. » <a href="/music/artist/drake/artist.jhtml">Drake</a>'s sweater game will become so advanced that he will surpass Bill Cosby as the world's foremost expert on multi-hued knitwear. On a related note, he will also release a comedy album called To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With. » <a href="/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> will stun the fashionistas when she appears at the annual Met Ball wearing a nice pantsuit she bought at Bealls. » <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> will finally get that bike without the training wheels, since he's a big boy now. » <a href="/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">The Black Keys</a>, buoyed by the success of their <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/the-black-keys/706819/lonely-boy.jhtml">"Lonely Boy" video</a>, will shoot another dance-only clip for "Gold on the Ceiling," this one set at Gallagher's 2000 and featuring nothing but topless women. Surprisingly, it will become the most-viewed music video in the history of everything. » <a href="/music/artist/lil_wayne/artist.jhtml">Lil Wayne</a> will come full circle, get a tattoo of his face on his face. » <a href="/music/artist/guns_n_roses/artist.jhtml">Guns N' Roses</a> will reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April, only with that dude who plays a guitar shaped like a foot filling in for Slash and Tommy Stinson replacing Duff on bass. As Beyoncé settles into the role of motherhood, she's attached to another role — this one for the big screen. The pop singer is reportedly in talks to join Ryan Murphy's latest flick.

Billed as "One Hit Wonders," the film would be a musical comedy that could potentially star B's pal Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg.

The film would follow Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz as pop stars who hit it big in the '90s as — you guessed it — one-hit wonders. In order to gain back some of the pop-star recognition they once had, the ladies join forces and form a supergroup. Samberg and his Lonely Island team would be involved in coming up with the movie's songs. Beyoncé's role is still unknown.

The "Glee" creator would direct and co-write the screenplay with his frequent collaborators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. He's expected to begin work on it after his big-screen adaptation of the play "The Normal Heart." Deadline reports that the film's idea came after Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz dined with Murphy at New York hotspot Soho House and they all wanted to work on a fun project together. The pitch to Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal was reportedly scooped up in 10 minutes. Deals are currently being worked out.

MTV News' email to Murphy's rep had not been returned by press time.

Regardless of how this film shakes out, Beyoncé is reportedly already thinking about her music career again. Producer Ryan Tedder shared that the singer is prepping several follow-up albums to 2011's 4.

"The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening. All I can say is, you kind of feed her the best that you have, and she's this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in." One of those albums may be the soundtrack for the upcoming Clint Eastwood film "A Star Is Born," which the singer is also attached to star in.

Celine Dion Cancels More Shows On Doctors Orders

Those of you hoping to catch one of Celine Dion?s shows soon are just going to have to wait. The singer is under strict orders from her doctor to rest her voice. Celine was set to do some shows at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace but her doctor has put the kibosh on her plans, for good reason of course. Apparently Dion is suffering a virus that is causing her vocal chords to get inflamed. Having inflammation in the vocal chords is not a good thing for a singer, as I am sure you can imagine. That being said she needs to rest her money maker for at least six to eight weeks per her doctor. One of the producers with the show, Christi Nelson has reportedly shared that all shows will resume on June 9th. This is of course providing that Dion?s voice is ready to go by then. Confirmed: AnnaSophia Robb to Play Young Carrie Bradshaw

It's long been a mystery of who would stake claim of the coveted role, and now, it has been announced that AnnaSophia Robb has landed the lead role in HBO's forthcoming prequel to "Sex and the City".

The "Soul Surfer" actress will be the star of "The Carrie Diaries" as she plays a young Carrie Bradshaw, the role Sarah Jessica Parker is known for bringing to the small screen.

The show is based on the novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell, and follows a 17-year-old Bradshaw ?who comes of age in the 1980s and is asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan,? according to Variety.

It seems the internet tipped the actress off that she landed the role as Annasophia tweeted, "So excited for #carriediaries! It was online before I even knew hahahaha oh technology."

Angelina Jolie Oscars Imitator Explains 'Loving Tribute' To Actress' Leg

On Sunday night at the 2012 Oscars, "The Descendants" co-writer Jim Rash hit the stage with Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon to accept the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. They were handed their prize by Angelina Jolie, who had just turned heads in her breathtaking Versace black velvet gown, which featured one very sexy slit. To emphasize the look, Jolie had popped out her right leg; the move prompted a Twitter account made in the leg's honor and Rash's funny onstage parody of it, right next to Jolie.

Shortly after Rash imitated her stance at the show, he was asked what had moved him to do it. He laughed off the moment, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "I had just seen her pose and thought it was bold and fun. And you know what? We have exactly the same legs!

Really, it was a loving tribute and nothing but."

Faxon, who also sort of got in on the joke with his leg, said, "Angelina's supremely hot. There's no way to do anything but honor her."

Rash also spoke to EW.com about the moment, noting that he had decided to go there when producers told nominees that when multiple people accepted an award, only one person could give a speech.

"Honestly, as soon as I saw her pose like that, I was like, 'I'm going to do that,' " said the writer, who also plays Dean Pelton on "Community." "I knew Alexander was going to take the reins, so I was like, 'How can I make a moment?' — selfishly. I almost thought it was a little Dean Pelton, somehow. I was bringing it all together. Because I have stood like that [on 'Community']."

As of press time, the Twitter account (under the handle "Angies Right Leg") made in that leg's honor had yet to comment on the moment, but sure had plenty to say about its own glory over the course of 18 tweets. One of the final tweets simply noted, "You have to admit I'm one hell of a leg."

It was only a month ago that fans were wondering when the first images of new mom <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> might hit the Net. On Monday night, those questions were answered. Just four weeks after giving birth to daughter <a href="/news/articles/1677033/blue-ivy-beyonce-jay-z-leaves-hospital.jhtml">Blue Ivy</a>, B was back on the scene to celebrate hubby <a href="/news/articles/1678669/jay-z-carnegie-hall.jhtml">Jay-Z's first show at Carnegie Hall</a>. <div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:731725" width="240" height="211"></div> Wearing a form-fitting red dress, she hit up a post-show party held at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City. She didn't make a big deal walking a red carpet at an award show or posing on the cover of a magazine," Huffington Post celebrity columnist Rob Shuter told MTV News on Tuesday (February 7). "Beyoncé made it as low-key an event as possible and at the same time plugged her husband's club." <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/08/beyonce-photos-carnegie-hall-night-two/">Check out more photos from B's night out!</a> For the appearance, Beyoncé was decked out in a fiery-red Temperley London dress, Christian Louboutin heels and an Alexander McQueen clutch. While that may sound very glam, another expert was surprised by just how modest the look actually was. "Beyoncé looks amazing in her first post-baby appearance. Even thought it made sense for her to make her debut last night to show her support for her husband and the charity his concert benefited, her outfit was fairly simple," celebrity editor <a href="http://gossipdavid.com" target="_blank">David Caplan</a> said. "I expected her to make her post-baby debut at a really glitzy event or awards show, like maybe the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammys</a>, in a gorgeous gown and really steal the show. But clearly she wanted to be seen, since she even posted photos of herself right away on her website, which stars don't typically do — they'll just let the media pick up and run the photos." <div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724228.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div> So, will B and Jay play it just as cool when it comes to releasing the first shot of their newborn? "It will be a [paparazzi] shot taken on the beach or when the couple is on vacation," Shuter predicted. "As for when will we see baby Blue, I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of grainy-looking paparazzi photo emerges," he said. "Those photographers are very crafty, even if Beyoncé and Jay-Z think they're doing all they can to keep Blue away from photographers. But ultimately, I think you can expect to see her baby photos in a magazine pictorial, and that will be Blue's introduction to the world. That's the real reveal people want to see." A group of real-life Navy SEALs stormed the box office this weekend, kicking overall theater grosses into high gear for the eighth consecutive week. "Act of Valor" commanded the #1 spot with a $24.7 million debut, which contributed to an overall box-office number up roughly 23 percent from the same period last year.

"Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" was #2 with $16 million during its first weekend in theaters. Meanwhile, the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Wanderlust" starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd and the Amanda Seyfried thriller "Gone" both flopped.

"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" was #3 with $13.4 million for a three-week total of $76.7 million. Last weekend's #1 movie, "Safe House," dropped to #4 with $11.4 million for a $98.1 million total. Next week it will likely become the fourth Denzel Washington movie to cross the $100 million mark. "The Vow" rounded out the top five with $10 million for a three-week total of $103 million.

A departure from the filmmaker's "Madea" movies and broader ensemble comedies, "Good Deeds" had the second worst opening for a Tyler Perry film. ("Daddy's Little Girls" opened with $11.2 million in 2007.) Like most of his movies, "Good Deeds" was not a hit with critics, either. "It's indisputable that Perry has improved as a filmmaker throughout his meteoric rise to success, but that growth only brings into clearer focus the deficiencies he has yet to outgrow," wrote Box Office Magazine's Todd Gilchrist.

Apatow also suffered the second lowest debut for a film with his name attached, with "Wanderlust" beating only his 2007 "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story." "Wanderlust" opened with $6.6 million, while "Gone" trailed behind with just $5 million.

Best Picture winner "The Artist" did the best of all of the Oscar contenders at the box office over the weekend, picking up another $3 million and adding an additional 158 theaters for a domestic total of $31.9 million. "The Descendants" made another $2.2 million for a $78.5 million total. "Hugo" made $1.6 million (in significantly fewer theaters) for a total of $69.4 million. "The Help," "Midnight in Paris," "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life" are all available for home viewing; "War Horse" is due on Blu-ray and DVD on April 3.

"Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace" crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office thanks to the recent 3-D re-release, making the first of George Lucas' "Star Wars" prequels the 10th-highest-grossing film of all time, not counting for inflation. "The Phantom Menace" passed "The Dark Knight" over the weekend.

Other movies that have crossed the $1 billion mark include "Avatar" ($2.7 billion), "Titanic" ($1.8 billion; soon to receive a 3-D re-release as well), "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" ($1.3 billion), "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" ($1.1 billion), "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($1.1 billion), "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ($1.06 billion), "Toy Story 3" ($1.06 billion), "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" ($1.04 billion), and the 2010 "Alice in Wonderland" ($1.02 billion).

Earlier this week, British music mag <a href="http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=1&title=the_most_pretentious _albums_ever&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1" target="_blank">NME</a> set out to determine the "10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever." The list includes (genuinely pretty terrible) conceptual fare like Kiss' Music From "The Elder," Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and, uh, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s Born This Way, which somehow bested all competitors to nab the #1 spot. How? Well, as NME writer Priya Elan wrote, "On Born This Way, [Gaga] seemed to believe in her own hype, convinced she had a message to share. Cue an album of unwieldy 'anthems' that couldn't mask the fact that the fun had left the building." Elan singled out the thumping "Scheiße" as BTW's most pretentious moment, adding, "Did electroclash die for this?" Snap. As you'd probably expect, those jabs had Gaga's Little Monsters on the offensive, and they launched an all-out attack on Elan in the comments section of NME's website. But Gaga herself remained above the fray — for a while, anyway. On Thursday night, she took to her <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/172828595134267392" target="_blank">Twitter account</a> to hit back at NME, a publication that's certainly been <a href="http://i28.tinypic.com/2vwzpfp.jpg" target="_blank">no stranger to charges of pretentiousness</a> over the years. "Oh the irony of winning 'Most Pretentious Album Ever' from none other than NME. *Eye roll,*" Gaga wrote. "I might laugh forever [and] then return to narcissism." Double snap. Having sufficiently eye-rolled her way through the situation, there's been no further comment from Gaga about the list. NME, of course, has since turned the exchange into <a href="http://www.nme.com/news/lady-gaga/62233" target="_blank">a separate story,</a> one which, for whatever reason (word count?), includes recent comments Gaga made about bulimia ... and spaghetti. *Eye roll.*

Cornell's denial comes just a day after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/aerosmith/artist.jhtml">Aerosmith</a>Aerosmith guitarist <a href="http://aeronewsdaily.com/blog/2008/10/31/aerosmith-guitarist-says-page-trying-to-motivate-plant-to-return-to-zeppelin/" target="_blank">Brad Whitford confirmed reports</a> that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert." Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played <a href="/news/articles/1576186/led-zeppelin-give-fans-a-whole-lotta-love-at-reunion-show.jhtml">a single reunion set</a> last year at London's O2 Arena. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/twisted_sister/artist.jhtml">Twisted Sister</a>Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant. <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/10/13/another-led-zeppelin-rumor-almost-debunked/">According to Snider</a>, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' " "And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in." In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there." But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard." Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/timbaland/artist.jhtml">Timbaland</a>Timbaland-produced solo LP, <a href="/news/articles/1596730/chris-cornell-debuts-timbaland-produced-track-on-tv-show.jhtml">Scream,</a> will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way. "It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rage_against_the_machine/artist.jhtml">Rage Against the Machine</a>Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like. "It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."

'Hunger Games' And 'Twilight' Oddly Absent From Oscars

'Harry Potter,' meanwhile, was shut out of its two nominations — but couldn't the YA franchises' stars get involved?

There's still a lot to discuss and digest from the 2012 Oscars, from the glitz and glamour, to the surprises, snubs and glaring omissions.

Speaking to the snubs and omissions category, MTV News couldn't help but notice that, for an awards show designed to appeal to all movie fans, three of the most buzz-worthy film franchises of the last decade were mostly left out of the festivities: "Harry Potter," "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games."

This is not a story about the lack of nominations for the films; we've already complained about the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" shutout and "The Hunger Games" hasn't even been released yet. But why not involve a few of these noteworthy films' castmembers in the telecast? We consulted a few experts on the subject.

"I think this year is more glaring than most, for sure," said Entertainment Weekly senior writer Sara Vilkomerson. "Personally, I'm surprised there was not a lot of 'Potter' stuff; that was a very lucrative franchise for a lot of people and really critically acclaimed, the last movie. I feel like there was a definite lack of youth. I know in my house, when the 'Hunger Games' ad came on, it felt a little more exciting than certain parts of the telecast."

"The Academy obviously went out of their way to acknowledge the lack of youth appeal — but a handful of jokes in Billy Crystal's video montage and a little token Bieber isn't enough to fix it," added Brooke Tarnoff, senior editor for NextMovie.com. "It's a hard line to walk, enticing younger viewers but still voting with integrity. Maybe the answer is expanding Academy membership to more young actors who will be able to choose 'young people movies' with a clear conscience."

"I'm a house divided on the Oscars and the youth audience," said Shylah Addante, who runs "Hunger Games" fan site Down With the Capitol. "On one hand, as a card-carrying fangirl, I absolutely understand the outrage about last night's 'Potter' snub. For a franchise that has touched the hearts and minds, not to mention the wallets, of so many people around the world for a decade, the absence of Oscar gold left me feeling like the Academy was full of Dementors. On the other hand, the fiercely proud side of me wants a film to win an Oscar because it deserves it — not because it's a tentpole franchise or because it made one bajillion dollars worldwide. If 'Hugo' was any lesson to young Oscar viewers, it is that, in the right hands, a children's/young adult book can become a film worthy of major awards."

"It's a very, very hard line to teeter on. I have full sympathy for the people who are trying to organize it," Vilkomerson said. "It just shows how challenging it is to put on a really good Oscar telecast that makes everyone happy, that hits everything that everybody wants. It's a hard, hard show to put on. Maybe next year, 'The Hunger Games' will be nominated and that will be the easiest way to interlace these two worlds."

Addante agreed with next year's potential for "The Hunger Games." " 'Potter' and 'Twilight' may not have wooed the Academy, but 'Hunger Games,' with its decorated cast and crew, contemporary social and political messages and dramatic plot, may just have what it takes to finally give some critical legitimacy to young adult series and their fans."

The stars of Broadway's 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' Wood Harris, Nicole Ari Parker, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Blair Underwood hosted a meet and greet at Pershing Square Signature Center in New York City today. Mom of 2 Nicole is looking fab these days.

The cast began rehearsals today--Nicole has been cast as the female lead, Blanche DuBois and the hot Mr. Underwood will play her husband, Stanley Kowaolski. Both are making their Broadway debuts.

And during a recent interview with HuffPost BlackVoices, Blair revealed what fans can expect from his new role.

"The theater is my first love, it started in the theater. I went to college at Carnegie Mellon University and studied theater and fine arts. It just so happened that film and television took off in my career. But every chance that I get, I get back on those boards. It's where I feel most comfortable. So it's that, and then there's that personal excitement about the production itself: the fact that it is "A Streetcar Named Desire," the fact that it is Stanley Kowalski, which is just an iconic role to play in American theater.

And then the fact that I get to work with Nicole Ari Parker, who's playing Blanche, and Daphne Rubin-Vega is playing Stella, and Wood Harris playing Mitch, and [five-time Grammy award-winner from New Orleans] Terence Blanchard, who's doing the music. So he's going to give it all of that New Orleans flavor. So what you can expect is a glimpse inside fascinating, dysfunctional characters on stage. But also arguably one of the greatest plays ever written."

Streetcar Named Desire gets revived on Broadway April 22nd.

Moviegoers will get to see Whitney Houston's final film performance, in "Sparkle," when the film opens in August. Before the icon's tragic death two weeks ago, the movie was set to be Houston's big return to the silver screen, her first since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

A day before the Oscars, Houston's "Sparkle" co-star Derek Luke reflected on working with the singer when we caught up with him at the Independent Spirit Awards.

"The beautiful thing about being in 'Sparkle' is that we had something that was recorded that I can hold onto, and in that time, me and my wife and Whitney ... the other cast, we really bonded," he shared. "Whitney did an amazing job, so I can't wait for people to see it and there's no great way to go out, but what a performance she had."

"Sparkle" is a remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film about three talented young Harlem sisters whose musical aspirations are affected when one begins to struggle with drug addiction. The 2012 version features "American Idol" alum Jordin Sparks as the titular character and Houston, who also served as executive producer after acquiring the rights to the film more than a decade ago, as her mother, Emma.

While the film will mark Houston's final bow on the big screen, Luke noted that it's sure to have fans buzzing. "What a performance she had," he added. "And I think the world will be blessed."

A rep for Sony shared the movie studio's great sense of loss with MTV News shortly after her death over Grammy weekend: "Like all those who knew and loved her, we are shocked and saddened and the world has lost an incomparable talent. Right now our thoughts are with her daughter, her family and her friends."

The film's producer, Bishop T.D. Jakes, also expressed his sadness upon hearing the news. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely passing of Whitney Houston, whom we were blessed to have just completed work with on the remake of the film 'Sparkle,' " he said in a statement. "We ask the world to join us in lifting up Whitney's family in prayer and ask God for their strength and comfort during this devastatingly difficult time.

"At the apex of her career, Whitney had no peer, with a voice that shaped a generation. She has left behind a musical and film legacy that will endure. ... She will be sorely missed by us all."
