Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and George Clooney better have received something nice from Santa this year, because they certainly weren't on his naughty list. Those three toplined DoSomething.org's Top 20 Celebs Gone Good, the organization's annual roundup of the most charity-friendly stars in the business.
This is Gaga's second year in a row at the #1 spot. In 2011 she dedicated much of her time to putting an end to bullying and even started a new charitable organization called Born This Way. The "Marry the Night" singer did plenty more to help out those less fortunate in 2011, including auctioning off a nude sketch for charity and performing at the Bill Clinton Foundation fundraiser. However, this was really Bieber's year to shine. He rocketed up DoSomething.org's list from #10 last year to #2 this year. It helps that Bieber donated some of his profits from his Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, and his self-named perfume to various charitable organizations. Bieber also kept up his work with Pencils of Promise, a group that has built 41 schools in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala and was founded by his manager's brother.
Rounding out the top five were Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Leonardo DiCaprio. This was a year for celeb power couples, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie clocking at #8, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore at #12 and newlyweds Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert at #14. Other notable standouts this year were Demi Lovato at #10, Lea Michele making her charitable debut at #16, Daniel Radcliffe at #17, Miley Cyrus at #18 and Taylor Swift rounding out the list at #20. Justin Bieber Has 'It,' Mark Wahlberg Says1676492
'I'm pretty intuitive,' actor tells MTV News about why he wanted to work with the pop star on an upcoming basketball-themed drama.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Mark Wahlberg surprised movie fans everywhere when he announced plans to hook up with Justin Bieber on the big screen. But when MTV News caught up with the "Contraband" star recently, he explained why he wanted to work with the teen phenom on the basketball-themed drama.
"Intuition. I'm pretty intuitive," he said of why he thinks shooting a film with the pop star is the right choice. "I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him, and it's there." Of course, if it doesn't come easily to the rookie actor, Wahlberg has a backup plan: "It's there — and if not, I will extract it." When MTV News caught up with Wahlberg and Bieber earlier this year at the MTV Movie Awards, they opened up a bit more about the in-the-works flick. "Wait till you see me and Bieber in the flick. Think of, like, 'The Color of Money,' " Wahlberg said of his "old guy" role. "So I get this call from Paramount [with a story about] an old guy and a young guy. I'm like, 'Cool, let's get Jack [Nicholson]. Let's get Robert De Niro. Let's get Robert Duvall.' And they go, 'What about Garrett Hedlund?' I'm like, 'For what?' " he further recalled. "They're like, 'For the young guy.' "
Bieber, who previously appeared on the big screen in his 3-D concert flick "Never Say Never," said he hopes to be on a film set by sometime next summer. And while he kept his plans hush-hush, he added that his team is "working on the script." For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.

Jessica Alba Has a Day at the Beach With Honor and Haven
Jessica Alba had her daughters Haven Warren and Honor Warren with her as she strolled in Cabo yesterday. The mother of two enjoyed some girl time, taking a break in the shade with her infant while Honor played in the sand. Today, Jessica wore a casual coverup and a hat for her walk along the shore. Earlier this week, however, Jessica sported a bikini and showed off her post-baby figure as she took a dip in the pool with Cash Warren and their kids.
The Alba-Warren family was clearly in the holiday spirit this year. Jessica was spotted at Toys R Us last week buying Honor a bright pink, electric Barbie car, and also took her oldest for a visit to Santa. Just after Christmas weekend the foursome headed South to enjoy the warm weather. Their arrival in Mexico didn't go unnoticed by Jessica's fans, and shortly after they arrived, she happily obliged to pose for some pictures.

Maybe Britney Spears' lucky number is 30. The singer turned 30 this year, marking the landmark birthday on December 2 with a fan-voted MTV News tournament that crowned the Best Britney Video of All Time. But her 30th year also proved to be an incredibly successful period in her career.
And while much of the 2011 VMA buzz was about Beyoncé's baby bump and Jo Calderone, Spears stole the spotlight by walking away with a Moonman for Best Pop Video and the prized Video Vanguard Award. She also had tongues wagging after an onstage kiss from Jo (a.k.a. Lady Gaga), just before she was honored with an electrifying dance tribute that highlighted some of biggest career moments. "It was really crazy. I had no idea what to expect," Spears told us backstage at the VMAs. "The kids were amazing and so entertaining, and it was a really fun night. It was really cool. I was like, 'Wow, that's really sweet!' " As 2011 came to a close, Spears wrapped up her tour, and MTV News threw her a birthday bash in the form of the "30 Videos for 30 Years" tournament. The competition was heated but in the end, Spears' iconic "I'm a Slave 4 U" took home the prize. And just when it seemed things couldn't get any better, Britney confirmed she was engaged to Trawick after dating for two years. She showed off her Neil Lane ring during a celebratory weekend in Las Vegas. MTV continues our Best of 2011 coverage by looking back at the biggest pop-culture stories of the year. Singer will perform on MTV's 'NYE in NYC 2012' along with Mac Miller, Selena Gomez and J. Cole.

It's almost that time to ring in the new year, and what better way to do so than with MTV? "NYE in NYC 2012" will air live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday from Times Square, hosted by Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey of "Teen Wolf."
Also on hand to count down will be some of music's biggest stars, including J. Cole, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez and Jason Derülo, who will be performing in our Times Square studios.
"I cannot think of another way to bring the new year in than with MTV." Derülo told MTV News. "I'm excited — new year, new beginnings."
Derülo plans to excite the crowd with two hit songs from his sophomore album, Future History, which was released earlier this year.
"I'll be doing 'It Girl' and 'Don't Wanna Go Home,' a medley of the two," Derülo revealed. "[There will] be a lot of high-energy dancing."
Derülo isn't just gearing up for his own performance, he's excited to see what his fellow performers have in store for the big night.
"It's going to be a crazy show, I hope you guys are tuning in because lots of great performers," Derülo said. "You have different flavors from all around."
Of course, with a new year comes a new resolution, so what will Derülo be doing differently in 2012? "Not being late to a lot of places." Derülo said. "I don't want to say I'm usually late; I'm fashionably late. I think being 20 minutes is a little too much, but if you're in the 15 margin, I think you're golden."

'Harry Potter' Comes To Bittersweet End In 2011
Arrival of 'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' was a moment that made headlines and marked the end of an era.
By John Mitchell
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"

For millions of people all over the world, the approach of midnight on July 15 brought with it a gut-wrenching mix of excitement and heartache. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" was set to open all over the world, and as fans lined up outside movie theaters — some in costume as their favorite character — we realized that this was it. The joy of seeing the final installment of the most successful film franchise in history was tempered with the sadness that we'd never get to do this again. This truly great thing that had been, from first book to final film, a part of our lives for well over a decade had reached its end. For an entire generation, the film's release was like turning the final page on our childhoods.
"Deathly Hallows, Part 2" wasn't just a movie; it was the event of the summer. And the bittersweet moment is also MTV News' #8 Top Newsmaker of 2011, because it made headlines and marked the end of an era.
The stars of the film definitely seemed to understand just how close to fans' hearts the franchise had become. It had, after all, touched them too. Asked if there'd be tears upon the film's release, Emma Watson cheekily told MTV News at the MTV Movie Awards, "Maybe a few. Maybe one or two, just little ones."
The film set box-office records for the biggest first day ($92.1 million) and largest opening weekend, both domestically ($168.5 million) and worldwide ($314 million), ever and received the best reviews of any film in the franchise. The praise wasn't contained to critics and fans: Even the stars of the film were in awe of the final product. "I was a wreck because of the film itself," Daniel Radcliffe told MTV News at the film's New York premiere. "You've got to have a heart of stone to not find part of it — especially Alan Rickman's performance — heartbreaking, so yeah, I've done my fair share of crying already. ... I think that we proved in doing 'Potter' that you can bring integrity and perpetual growth to a franchise."
Fans' devotion to the books, films and characters created by J.K. Rowling was manifest in the enthusiastic response to our "Harry Potter" World Cup, MTV News' month-long, March Madness-style tournament to find out which character was the fan favorite. More than 7.4 million votes were cast in the competition, resulting in a final face-off between Ron Weasley and Professor Severus Snape. In the end, the compellingly complex Snape took the title, and star Alan Rickman thanked fans at the film's New York premiere, telling MTV News that Snape's victory was "a vote for ambiguity and things where you don't quite know how they're going to turn out." He continued, "Also, it's [Snape's] values that you can't talk about without ruining the film, but things like courage and determination and loyalty and love, actually."
The success of the series itself could be seen as a celebration of those same things. On the surface, the "Harry Potter" films are fantasies about a boy wizard and his underdog friends navigating a magical universe in which evil lurks in the shadows. But above all, the "Potter" books and films champion courage, determination and loyalty in the face of great adversity and are premised on the notion that love ultimately conquers all. We can think of no better message for a film series to impart on a generation of young people facing a real world mired in conflict and economic turmoil.
It's sad that there's no more "Potter" to look forward to, but the magic created by Rowling; directors Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and especially David Yates (who helmed the final four films); screenwriter Steven Kloves; and stars Radcliffe, Watson and Rupert Grint will live on to do great things — much like the Boy Who Lived himself.

'Twilight,' Nicki Minaj On 2012 Pop-Culture Wish List

As the last few hours of this glorious, Adele-ified year disappear, MTV News is turning its attention to the next 12 months, which promise to be full of big-time blockbuster films ("Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Hunger Games") and even bigger-time celebrity events (Beyoncé and Jay-Z's baby, Britney's betrothal, Robert Pattinson doing something) — oh yeah, and there's also going to be a presidential election and the London Olympics and, potentially, the end of the world as we know it. So, basically, 2012 is totally going to smoke 2011.
But with so much to look forward to, what will be the event of the year? Well, we decided to take to the streets of New York's Times Square, where the big shiny ball will drop at the stroke of midnight, to find out what's topping your New Year's wish list.
"I'm most looking forward to hopefully seeing a Nicki Minaj tour," Adya Goswami said.
Alison Grant added, "My favorite is Lil Wayne, so I hope he puts something out again."
Of course, while we got plenty of folks clamoring for new music, we heard from even more who couldn't wait to check out the year's biggest movies — and from the sound of things, 2012 might very well be the year of the bat. Or the vampire.
"The new Batman movie coming out should be an awesome movie," Nick Stuart said.
Haley Race shared, "I'm really excited for the next 'Twilight' movie. I'm really a big fan. I've read the books like 40 times, each of them!"
And while "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" seem like sure bets, there are some New Year's wishes that may not come true in 2012. After all, you can't get everything you want.
" 'How to Make it in America': If that show gets put back on the air, that would be great," Steve Borrebach said.
Don't miss MTV's "NYE in NYC 2012," kicking off at 11 p.m. ET/PT (10 Central) tonight, New Year's Eve.

Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?1665146

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the Foo Fighters — set to perform at Sunday's Movie Awards — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin?
Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their Movie Awards performance. Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with "Harry Potter," the "Twilight Saga" or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin. Here's a sampling of a few of those one-liners: » "The elder wand, the most powerful wand ever made." » "Why don't you let me be yours ever truly? Can I make your garden grow?" » "You're lying, Dolores! You mustn't tell lies!" Can you guess whether the lines above came from the "Potter" flicks, "Twilight" or Robert Plant? Watch as the Foos try their best to do exactly that. Then tune in to the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday to catch the Foo Fighters rock the stage with their new single, "Walk." Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the "America's Best Dance Crew" finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of "After Hours."

Much like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber is treating his crew of Beliebers to some new music right in time for the Christmas holiday. On Wednesday night, the pop superstar debuted a new track called "Be Alright" to a jam-packed crowd during his Toronto-based TV concert special, "Justin Bieber: Home for the Holidays," which airs Thursday night (December 22) on MuchMusic and CTV. "You might hear this on my next album, you might not, but it's a song I'm working on. I still haven't really finished it," Bieber told the screaming crowd, before unveiling the acoustic tune. "Basically, the concept is: Even though when times get hard with your girlfriend or boyfriend, when times get hard, you gotta just let them know that in the end, everything's gonna be alright." Sitting beside his guitarist, MTV News' #5 Newsmaker of 2011 crooned to the slow jam as the audience clapped their way through his performance, and later on, helped the star sing along to the simple hook. "Across the ocean, across the sea/ Starting to forget the way you look at me now/ Over the ocean and across the sky/ Starting to forget the way you look in my eyes," he sang. After the holiday special, the teen singer took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the memorable evening, writing, "Tonight was special. No rules. Music, family, friends, fans, charity, and music. Thank you. #HomeForTheHolidays." "Be Alright" is just a taste of what may come from the singer's next album release. MTV News recently spoke with JB's longtime vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, who discussed his thoughts about the pop star's transition into adulthood. "The only conversation we've had about Justin's album that we're about to do is it's really important that it's the proper transition because we've seen him [with] 'Baby,' now we're watching him grow up," Harrell told us. "And we can't just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. There's a record in between." What do you think of JB's new tune? Share your reviews below!

The Tom Cruise and Paula Patton fronted action film pulled in an estimated $10.7 million on Friday while expected to bring in a solid total of $28.2 million during its third weekend of release.
With little change being seen from the Christmas weekend placings, the runner-up slot is occupied once more by the Guy Ritchie directed sequel "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," as the Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr starring motion picture made $7.4 million on Friday while trending towards a weekend take of $20.8 million.

Britney Spears' Engagement Ring: How Does It Stack Up?1676248

After Britney Spears confirmed her engagement to longtime beau Jason Trawick last Friday, fans wanted to know everything about the ring, a four-carat diamond designed by Neil Lane. Trawick — Brit's former agent — popped the question after working with famed jeweler Lane on the design, according to People.com. The site also reported that Trawick wanted a crown-like band. In addition to the mega-sparkler at the center of the tiara-style setting, the hubby-to-be also had 90 small round diamonds added around the band. Spears debuted the ring during a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her fiancé's birthday.
"Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!" Lane told the website. "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone." Minya Oh, the author of "Bling Bling: Hip Hop's Crown Jewels," told MTV News she was pleasantly surprised by how understated the rock is. "The ring is so damn classy! It's [four] carats, which by Hollywood standards these days is practically microscopic," Oh said. "The setting is a tiny crown but both that and the thin diamond-studded band are done so delicately, from afar the focus is still on that bright white center stone. Nothing about the ring overwhelms her hand, and nothing screams, 'Please believe my relationship is real!' " She added, "This is the kind of ring a pop icon has when they're ready for something that means more than just the ring." This is hardly Spears' first engagement ring, however. When her ex Kevin Federline popped the question back in 2004, the former back-up dancer gave the pop princess a five-carat diamond ring. All this talk about rocks got us thinking about some other celebrity proposals, so we decided to spotlight a few memorable engagement rings. Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries
When it comes to size, Spears' ring from Trawick is small compared to Kim Kardashian's monster-size rock. When Kris Humphries popped the question earlier this year, he gave her a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond. Of course, the size of the ring didn't guarantee lasting marital bliss: the couple split after 72 days of marriage. Beyoncé & Jay-Z
Like Humpdash, Jay-Z, who is expecting his first child with wife Beyoncé, also went the Lorraine Schwartz route. He gave his pop-star lady love an 18-carat ring back in 2007. The couple kept their wedding ceremony under wraps. Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler
While it has been a bumpy engagement for former "Hills" star Kristin Cavallari and her football player fiancé Jay Cutler, the couple announced they were engaged again last month. Cutler opted to use the same 5.2-carat ring he'd given the MTV reality star back in April when he first decided to put a ring on it. Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie
Before Mike Comrie asked mama-to-be Hilary Duff to be his blushing bride last year, he reportedly spent $1 million for the sparkler, said to be about 12 to 13 carats. Katy Perry & Russell Brand
Russell Brand also gifted Katy Perry with a ring of about 12 to 13 carats when he proposed last year to MTV's 2011 Artist of the Year. The comedian asked the pop star to marry him while the two were in India. The couple would later re-create that magic when they also married in the country in October 2010. Share your well-wishes for Britney and Jason in the comments!
Fabolous Buries The Competition On New Mixtape

Mixtape: There Is No Competition III: Death Comes in 3's
Real Spit: Funeral Fab takes no days off — not even Christmas. On Sunday while many were celebrating the holidays with family, Fabolous decided to gift-wrap his latest mixtape and release it online as a free download. There Is No Competition III: Death Comes in 3's is the third installment of the popular series that Fab and DJ Drama started in 2008.
"The theme of There Is No Competition III, it has the subtitle Death Comes in 3's, which plays along in the trilogy of this tape," Fab told Mixtape Daily.
The death-themed tape doesn't disappoint. On "Black City," Fabolous dons appropriate mourning attire and rides Tyga's "Rack City" beat to take shots at his rap competitors. The killing spree continues on the Lloyd Banks-assisted "Get Down or Lay Down" when F-A-B-O spits, "Money over bitches, dirt on top of bitch, n---as/ Put you in ya place, it happens to be a ditch, n---a." The Street Fam general calls upon more rap comrades on "B.E.T," which features Styles P and Jadakiss, and then again on "Unf---witable" with Red Café.
Things begin to get personal on "Death in the Family." Over an eerie-sounding track, Loso partners up with his brother Paul Cain and together they bid farewell to an unnamed former friend. "I be sayin' to myself as I put on the gloves, it hurts when you gotta kill a n---a you love," Fab raps on the hook.
It isn't all slow singing and flower bringing though. Fab and Meek Mill trade witty bars on "You Don't Know 'Bout It," and on "Spend It," Loso hooks up with Trey Songz as they deliver their take on 2 Chainz's underground hit of the same name.
With Fab's sixth studio album, Loso's Way 2, due out next year, TINC III is the perfect way to end a notable year for the Brooklyn MC, who made a killing in the streets.
Joints to Check For
» "Death Comes in 3's" - "It's like the wake; it's like the thing before the funeral. It's just me, a little bit of my sh-- talking, my letting know they're in for a ride with this mixtape."
» "You Don't Know 'Bout It" - "It started out just being a beat that I liked. I heard it, it was a Travis Porter song, actually. I just jumped on it and hit Meek up."

Anything can happen on the red carpet at any given awards show, and in 2011, it felt like anything that could happen did. As MTV News reflects on some of the biggest moments of the year, we decided to remember some of the most-memorable things A-listers did live right in front of us all.
Lady Gaga's Egg
In February, Gaga had everyone guessing how she would arrive to the Grammys. Given her penchant for crazy looks, no one would have guessed she would have showed up in an egg. Designed by Hussein Chalayan, Gaga later emerged from the structure to proclaim that she was "Born This Way."

Snooki
Speaking of the Grammys, the reality star joined MTV News' own Sway Calloway to talk to all the stars at the show. After helping us out on the 2010 red carpet, we learned that anything is possible with Snooki, and 2011 solidified that she's the fieriest "meatball" to grace the "Jersey Shore." We wonder if she and Bruno Mars ever ended up dating.
Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed
"Twilight" star Nikki Reed surprised everyone when she hit up the MTV Movie Awards in June. No, she hadn't borrowed Gaga's egg: She was rocking an engagement rock from her beau and "American Idol" alum Paul McDonald. The couple used the red carpet as the platform to announce their engagement, and married in October.
Beyoncé's Baby Bump
She might have rubbed that burgeoning baby bump onstage at the Video Music Awards in August, but hours before she took the stage, donning a bright orange gown, Beyoncé let the paparazzi know she was expecting her first child with hubby Jay-Z by flaunting her pregnancy glow.
Justin Bieber's Snake
While Beyoncé shared with the world her baby news, Bieber not only planted a kiss on VMA pre-show host and real-life lady love Selena Gomez, but also introduced her to his pet snake. His name? Johnson. She seemed less interested in the snake than perhaps he would have liked.

Britney Spears spent the weekend celebrating her engagement to Jason Trawick in Las Vegas with friends and family. On Friday, hours after the news of their impending marriage was confirmed, the singer took to her Facebook page to make it official, changing her relationship status to "engaged."
She also shared with her fans on Twitter just how excited she is to be tying the knot with longtime boyfriend Trawick. "Still glowing!" she wrote. "About to jump on a plane to Planet Hollywood in Vegas. Throwing a Bday Party for Jason at Chateau Night Club. So fun. Xxoo. And celebrate they did. People.com reported that the couple and her two sons checked into Planet Hollywood before making their first public appearance since the news broke. Spears rocked not only a body-hugging Hervé Léger bandage dress, but also her Neil Lane engagement ring. The couple shared dinner and dancing at two Sin City hotspots, Sugar Factory's Chocolate Lounge and Paris' Chateau Nightclub. "Tonight was one of the most magical nights of my life," she later wrote on Twitter. "Such an amazing time with my new fiance and our closest friends and family. #Blessed" While Spears was celebrating, her ex-husband Kevin Federline sent out his well-wishes. "I'm really happy for her — I think he's a great guy," he told TV Week magazine while filming the reality show "Excess Baggage" in Australia. "She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her." And Federline doesn't seem to have any hard feelings toward Trawick. "He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him," he added. "I've spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The kids speak highly of him [and] her family loves him."
