YBF actresses Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer were champions at the box office once again as their movie The Help moved into the #1 slot with $20.5 million in sales. Get the deets inside.....
The Disney produced film The Help continues to show signs of staying power at the box office as it rose to the #1 spot recently, taking in $20.5 million in sales.
Industry vets say the film's good "buzz" is what accounts for the move and now The Help has racked up $71.3 million in its first 10 days of release.
David Holis, Disney's executive vice president of distribution, said
"We hoped that The Help would be a breath of fresh air at the end of a busy summer, and that has turned out to be the case."
Unfortunately, Lisa Bonet's baby daddy Jason Momoa's Conan The Barbarian didn't go as well. The film had a budget of $70 million but only took in $10 million last week.
Here's how the top 5 performed:
1. The Help: $20.5 million
2. Rise of the Planet of the Apes: $16.3 million
3. Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D: $12 million
4. Conan the Barbarian: $10 million
5. Fright Night: $8.3 million
